What We Believe

Panel 1

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOrchard Springs Fellowship began in 2001 when our founding pastor, Tony DeRosa and his wife, Janet, received a burden for the area. As they drove into the community they realized that God could do somethng special for this community located in North Adams County. With that burden in their hearts they proceeded to take the necessary steps to begin a new church.

After contacting the Pennsylvania Delaware District of the Assemblies of God, Pastor Tony and Janet received permission, blessings, and encouragement, to begin investigating the possibility of starting the church.

In search of holding Sunday services somewhere, Pastor Tony and Janet contacted the local elementary school in Bendersville to investagate the possibility of renting that facility. Their request was granted and on April 15, 2001 the newly formed congregation held it’s first Sunday service.  There were 115 people in attendance including many friends and family of the DeRosas.

Since the inception of the church, the congregation has seen the hand of God upon them.  By faith the congregation looked for a piece of property and God directed us to our present location. The property was a 27 acre lot that listed for $495,000.This young congregation could not even begin to entertain that possiblity.

With guidance from God and fellow pastors, Pastor DeRosa ventured to purchase 8 acres of the 27 acre lot, with the understanding that the church would be able to purchase any of the remaining lots before any other interested parties could.

Since that time the congregation has built their own facility, pictured above, and has purchased an additional 3.5 acres of land. We have a three phase building plan and as the Lord enables we will venture into phase two.

Our church services are held on Sunday morning at 10:00AM and on Tuesday evening at 7:00PM. On Tuesday we have ministry for all age groups. Our Youth group, Momentum Youth, meet on Sunday evenings at 6:00PM.

We would love to have you stop in and say hello. Please let us know that you have visited us on our web site.

For more information you may e-mail Pastor Tony DeRosa at Pastortony@agchurches.org.

Recently, we have partnered with the Brethren In Christ denomination to begin a spanish fellowship at our location.  Rio de Agua Viva-Orchard Springs has launched and meets on Sunday evenings at 6:00 PM.

Thanks for visiting,

Pastor Tony DeRosa

What We Believe

These are nonnegotiable tenets of faith that all Assemblies of God churches adhere to. This list is derived from the official Statement of Fundamental Truths.

WE BELIEVE…The Scriptures are Inspired by God and declare His design and plan for mankind.

WE BELIEVE…There is only One True God revealed in three persons…Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (commonly known as the Trinity).

WE BELIEVE…In the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. As God’s son Jesus was both human and divine.

WE BELIEVE…though originally good, Man Willingly Fell to Sin ushering evil and death, both physical and spiritual, into the world.

WE BELIEVE…Every Person Can Have Restored Fellowship with God Through Salvation (accepting Christ’s offer of forgiveness for sin). [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the A/G]

WE BELIEVE…and practice two ordinances (1) Water Baptism by Immersion after repenting of one’s sins and receiving Christ’s gift of salvation, and (2) Holy Communion (the Lord’s Supper) as a symbolic remembrance of Christ’s suffering and death for our salvation.

WE BELIEVE…the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a Special Experience Following Salvation that empowers believers for witnessing and effective service, just as it did in New Testament times. [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the A/G]

WE BELIEVE… The Initial Physical Evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is Speaking in Tongues, as experienced on the Day of Pentecost and referenced throughout Acts and the Epistles.

WE BELIEVE…Sanctification Initially Occurs at Salvation and is not only a declaration that a believer is holy, but also a progressive lifelong process of separating from evil as believers continually draw closer to God and become more Christlike.

WE BELIEVE…The Church has a Mission to seek and save all whoare lost in sin. We believe ‘the Church’ is the Body of Christ and consists of the people who, throughout time, have accepted God’s offer of redemption (regardless of religious denomination) through the sacrificial death of His son Jesus Christ.

WE BELIEVE…A Divinely Called and Scripturally Ordained Leadership Ministry Serves the Church. The Bible teaches that each of us under leadership must commit ourselves to reach others for Christ, to worship Him with other believers, and to build up or edify the body of believers the Church.

WE BELIEVE…Divine Healing of the Sick is a Privilege for Christians Today and is provided for in Christ’s atonement (His sacrificial death on the cross for our sins). [1 of 4 cardinal doctrinesof the A/G]

WE BELIEVE…in The Blessed Hope.  When Jesus Raptures His Church Prior to His Return to Earth (the second coming). At this future moment in time all believers who have died will rise from their graves and will meet the Lord in the air, and Christians who are alive will be caught up with them, to be with the Lord forever. [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines ofthe A/G]

WE BELIEVE…in The Millennial Reign of Christ when Jesus returns with His saints at His second coming and begins His benevolent rule over earth for 1,000 years. At that time many in the nation of Israel will recognizeand accept Him as the Messiah, the Savior who died for them and all mankind.

WE BELIEVE…A Final Judgement Will Take Place for those who have rejected Christ. They will bejudged for their sin and consigned to eternal punishment in a punishing lake offire.

WE BELIEVE…and look forward to the perfect New Heavens and a New Earth that Christ is preparing for all people, of all time, who have accepted Him. We will live and dwell with Him there forever following His millennial reign on Earth. ‘And so shall we forever be with theLord!’

Two years after the founding of the Assemblies of God, members adopted 16 beliefs for the Fellowship. This list, known as the Statement of Fundamental Truths, remains virtually unchanged. Four of these beliefs are considered the major tenets of the Fellowship. They are:

1. Salvation Through Jesus Christ (John 3:3, 16, 17; Romans 10:13; Ephesians 2:8, 9)
Salvation is received through repentance toward God and faith toward the Lord Jesus Christ. By the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, being justified by grace through faith, man becomes an heir of God, according to the hope of eternal life.

2. Baptism in the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8; 2:4; 17, 18, 38, 39)
All believers are entitled to and should ardently expect and earnestly seek the promise of the Father, the baptism in the Holy Spirit and fire, according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. This was the normal experience of all in the early Christian Church. With it comes the enduement of power for life and service, the bestowment of the gifts and their uses in the work of the ministry.

3. Divine Healing for the Sick (James 5:14-16)
Divine healing is an integral part of the gospel. Deliverance from sickness is provided for in the atonement, and is the privilege of all believers.

4. The Second Coming of Christ (1 Thessalonians 4:14-16; 1 Corinthians 15:51, 52)
The second coming of Christ includes the rapture of the saints, which is our blessed hope, followed by the visible return of Christ with His saints to reign on earth for one thousand years.
